Architects and specifiers
will appreciate the aesthetically pleasing finish of Onix, a
new range of floor boxes and power grommets for installation
in hard floor surfaces such as stone, marble, wood or ceramic
tiles which has been launched by Ackermann. To be used in conjunction
with Ackermann screed trunking systems, these new products are
designed for use in high profile public areas such as airports,
shopping malls, HQ reception areas, and hotel foyers. The Onix
range also includes floor boxes which are sealed against water
ingress and can be used in areas where the floors are wet washed.
The range includes Onix square floor boxes, which have a recessed
lid to accommodate whichever floor finish is used. The lid requires
a floor tile lifter to gain access, making them ideal for use
in areas where some security against unauthorised access to
power and data services is needed.
Three versions of these square floor boxes are available - the
first has no cord outlet, it being used to allow access to junction
boxes and cabling, or to cover services not in use; the second
has a cord outlet on the edge of the tile to allow access to
power and data services. It is suitable for wooden floors but
not for areas washed down with water. The last in this series
has a unique central cord outlet design that allows access to
power and data services even in 'wet wash' environments.
The central cord outlet design is used in the Onix round metal
floor box. Manufactured in aluminium, this floor box has a lid
with a ribbed finish that provides a strong, wear-resistant,
slip-proof surface. With the cable outlet in the down position
the unit is completely sealed against water ingress, thus allowing
the floor to be mopped or hosed down. The product is tested
to withstand the floor being covered in water to a depth of
10mm. When the cable outlet is in use it is safe to mop the
floor, but not to use water jets.
The new power grommets included in the Onix range can be used
with any floor covering - including marble, wood and carpet,
and are available with standard finishes of either nickel or
antiquated brass - chrome and antiquated coppers are available
on request. Switched and unswitched 13A socket outlet versions
are available. |
